The California Preservation Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from preservation professionals across the state.

Board of Trustees

John Fidler, RIBA, Assoc. AIA, Los Angeles

John Fidler is the Staff Consultant for Preservation Technology with Simpson Gumpertz and Heger consulting engineers in Los Angeles.  He was formerly the Conservation Director of English Heritage (the broad equivalent of the US National Park Service) with more than 30 years international experience in historic preservation.  He was instrumental in developing the UK preservation community’s response to climate change impacts and sustainability, the experience from which he is now starting to apply in California and across America.  He has lectured and published widely on preservation technology.  Educational achievements include: M.A. architecture and M.A. conservation.
