Descriptions of all Committees of the California Preservation Foundation

Executive Committee 

Composed of the Officers of the Board and other Board members as may be deemed appropriate, the Executive Committee is responsible for day-to-day decision-making in matters of policy and implementation, subject to appropriate ratification by the full Board. The Executive Committee is also charged with legal, fiscal, and operational responsibilities, and with the Board as a whole, overseeing the long-range planning functions necessary for the organization's financial stability and growth.

Conference Committee

The Conference Committee includes a Steering Committee and a Programs Committee, plus a Board Liaison. Working directly with CPF staff, the Conference Committee is responsible for planning and executing the annual California Preservation Conference, including developing educational tracks, coordinating events, recruiting volunteers, and publicity.

Awards Committee

Made up of Board members and non-members, the Awards Committee supports the advocacy mission of CPF. This committee is responsible for coordinating the annual Preservation Design Awards program as well as the President's Awards ceremony at the Annual Conference. The Awards Committee is also responsible for monitoring and tracking award-winning efforts on a continual basis.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is responsible for proposing a slate of Trustees for approval by the Board prior to the annual membership meeting at the California Preservation Conference, and for ensuring timely public notice of the slate and election. The committee also recommends candidates to fill board vacancies that occur between regular yearly elections.

Development Committee

The Development Committee ensures the financial security of CPF by proposing and implementing underwriting and fundraising campaigns. Composed of Board members and non-members, this committee raises funds for CPF Programs and Workshops as well as the annual California Preservation Conference, and seeks grant opportunities that will support CPF's mission.

Easement Committee

The Easement Committee, which includes CPF's Executive Director, Board members and non-members, is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the easement program as well as ensuring that legal obligations pertaining to easements are carried out.

Education Committee

Made up of board members and non-board members, The Education Committee supports the educational mission of CPF. This committee is responsible for proposing the annual work program of CPF workshops, Study Tours, and the Annual Conference study sessions and mobile workshops; for developing the content of these programs; and for identifying and recruiting qualified speakers for each program. The Education Committee will serve as a sounding board when new initiatives are proposed or developed, and will consult with the CPF President in cases where there is a lack of agreement.

Advocacy Committee

The Advocacy Committee is composed of Board members and non-members. It supports the advocacy mission of CPF by evaluating and acting on requests for advocacy assistance. The Committee also advises on legal issues, strategies, potential legislation and other policy issues

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is responsible for the retention and recruitment of members of the organization. Composed of board members and non-members and working with CPF staff, the committee tracks membership composition, determines membership categories, and monitors membership renewal efforts. The Membership Committee oversees the maintenance of membership records and works to develop programs to expand and diversify membership.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee includes two subcommittees, the Newsletter Committee and the Marketing Committee. The Committee is composed of Board members and non-members. Its responsibility is to develop and maintain the image of CPF relative to graphics and public relations. Primary tools of this committee are the CPF newsletter and website, as well as the graphic image of all CPF publications, including membership, conference, and program brochures.

Strategic Plan Committee
