The California Preservation Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from preservation professionals across the state.
Board of Trustees
Mike Buhler, Esq., Los Angeles
Mike joined the Los Angeles Conservancy in 2006, where he leads the organization's wide-ranging advocacy program, including grassroots preservation efforts, proactive strategic initiatives, and promoting preservation-oriented public policy.
- From 1998 to 2006, Mike served as regional attorney for the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Western Office in San Francisco, where he was responsible for delivering field services in California, Washington and Idaho, and acted as the Trust's liaison on legal issues throughout eight western states.
- He has experience in all aspects of preservation advocacy, particularly legislation such as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
- He has edited two CPF publications, including Award-Winning Design Solutions and What's In It for You: Capitalizing on Historic Resources with the Mills Act.
- Mike holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and is admitted to the State Bar of California.
- He also holds a B.A. in History from the University of Washington in Seattle.
