The California Preservation Foundation is pleased to invite you to enter our annual contest. Contest winners receive cash prizes, gift certificates, and more. Students are recognized at the 2015 Preservation Conference, being held at Naval Training Center, Liberty Station, San Diego.
Submissions should explore your community and how it connects with the conference theme: “Gateways to Preservation: New Frontiers.”
Who is Eligible?
Three age categories may enter. Each age category will have three winners.
- Middle School (Grades 6-8)
- High School (Grades 9-12)
- College (Attending a two-year or university institution)
All entries must illustrate, address, or describe the historic fabric of your community (including the historic buildings, landscapes, or practices of community members). How does historic preservation play a role in your community, and what do you feel is important to preserve?
Films or Multimedia: Films are to be no more than 5 minutes in length and a brief summary of the film must also be included with the submission. Multimedia includes websites, animations, etc.
Photographs: Submissions can be digital or traditional analog (film), though if it is film, we ask that you enter by uploading a scan to the entry form.
Artwork: Any non-photographic medium, including paintings, collages, sculptures, charcoal sketches, etc.
Writing: Written entries may include creative writing, poetry, or expository writing. These entries must be limited to 1200 words or less.
